#Honda coolant type 2 color free
Silicates used to be part of the anti-corrosion package in older anti-freeze mixes, but now Organic acid technology (OAT) is used in vehicles with a mix of iron and aluminium in the cooling system, silicates can damage modern water pumps and seal, always safer to use silicate free unless you have a classic car with brass and copper in the cooling system, which may still need them. My antifreeze was a mix of blue and orange, not a pretty colour but I was happy - and no-one looks at the colour except me and I am more pragmatic than picky and an*l about these things. Ready to use straight from the bottle 50/50 blend. Protects from -34 F freeze point to 265 F (at 15 PSI) boiling point. The only problem is that if you top up with another colour you get a bit of a indeterminate colour which maybe won't look pretty, I did an incremental flush on my last Jazz (drained out what was willing to come out easily from radiator tap without disturbing the plugs in the engine block, topped up with Halfords orange universal silicate free OAT 50% premix, ran car for a week and repeated process) probably replaced 75% of coolant this way, but anti-freeze bit (ethylene glycol) does not degrade and lose its 'anti-freeze' properties, it is the corrosion inhibiting additives that get used up and that is what you need to top-up by doing a coolant change. Advanced Type-2 Blue formula is 100 compatible with and replaces the original Green coolant. It is formulated ethylene glycol base and requires. Many years ago the colour may have been important, but not any more. This Honda Type 2 coolant provides long-lasting protection for aluminum components of all cooling system.
Another option is Pentofrost A3, available at Autozone and Napa. Toyotas new formula is pink 50/50, exact same as the Zerex. The colour is only there to show up leaks, ethylyne glycol is colourless. The Zerex Asian can be used on almost every Asian car, including Honda and Toyota. Pretty much every article I have read on anti-freeze tells people to ignore the colour, auto makers use different colours to try to get owners to buy theirs.
